Vitamin D Deficiency

My entire life I always had normal levels in all my blood tests. But when this disease began, there was a notable difference in my blood tests. One of them was a lack of vitamin D. I soon learned that other RA patients had the same deficiency. Much more, others that have similar autoimmune diseases ALSO have this deficiency.

Ok, so now what? What do I eat to get more vitamin D? You can get vitamin D2 by consuming eggs, soy milk, fortified milk, orange juice,  cereals, tuna, mackerel, salmon, cod liver oil, mushrooms and you can also take vitamin D2 supplements (ask your doctor how much you should consume as everyone is different). So what about vitamin D3? Try getting out in the sun about 10-15 minutes every other day as this helps your own body produce vitamin D3. It's also good to note that sun exposure can help your body absorb calcium. You can also take vitamin D3 supplements.

So there you have it folks! Go get your vitamin D!  I hope this helps many of you!

* Ask your doctor about supplement dosage that is safe for you!
